বিজিবি যদি আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রর বিষয়টি জানতো তবে তার বাড়িতে কেন তল্লাশি করে আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হলো ? এমন প্রশ্নের জবাবে স্থানীয়রা জানান, আলম এলাকার মাদক ব্যবসায়িদের কাছ থেকে যে বিজিবি’র নামে যে পরিমান উৎকোচ আদায় করতো তার সবটুকু বিজিবিকে দিত না বলে বিজিবি’র সাথে আলমের বিরোধ দেখা দেয়। মাদক ব্যবসায়িদের কাছ থেকে উৎকোচ আদায়ের জন্য বিজিবি নতুন লোককে গুপ্তচরের কাজ দেয়। সে কারনেই আলমের বাড়ি তল্লাশি করে অস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। এতে করে আইনের আওতায় এনে আলমকে প্রতিরোধ করা যাবে।
বিজিবি এর কোম্পানী কমান্ডার এনামুল হক উৎকোচ আদায়ের বিষয়টি অস্বীকার করেন। তিনি বলেন, গোপন সূত্রে খবর পেয়ে তারা হরিপুর উপজেলার বেলডাঙ্গী গ্রামের রুহুল আমিনের ছেলে মো: আলমের বাড়ি তল্লাশি করে বিদেশী একটি রিভলভার ও ৬ রাউন্ড গুলি উদ্ধার করেছে। তবে তল্লাশির আগেই আলম পালিয়ে যেতে সক্ষম হয়। অস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হলেও কাউকে গ্রেপ্তার করা যায়নি। তিনি আরো জানান, বেআইনী ভাবে অস্ত্র রাখার বিষয়ে বিজিবি একটি মামলা দায়ের করবে।
